SURNAMES dictionary design

As Chinese people living abroad, we have experienced the frustration of having our surnames mispronounced or misunderstood. That is the seed of this project.

Surname is a unique dictionary that aims to bridge the cultural gap between Chinese and Other countries’ surnames. Unlike traditional translation dictionaries, this book does not solely rely on translation cliches but explores the original meanings and stories behind Chinese names. Drawing upon the original meanings and narratives of Chinese names, we have erected a cultural bridge that illuminates the similarities and differences between these two great linguistic traditions.

We are thrilled to provide a sense of belonging for Chinese readers and offer international audiences a deeper understanding and appreciation of Chinese surnames. In this groundbreaking work, we showcase the beauty and depth of Chinese culture by exploring its surnames. This book has never been attempted before, and we are overjoyed to share it with the world.
